Claude traced the mysterious seeds behind NIST's P-256 and other elliptic curves to an old lrand48 random number generator

For decades people have speculated about where those seeds came from. Turns out they're lrand48 output seeded with a Unix timestamp. It's not a break, and it makes a deliberate backdoor less plausible. Some of the base points are still unexplained, so the mystery isn't completely closed.
